Representatives of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council and Island Councils meet the President

Representatives of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council and Island Councils have today met with President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, council members congratulated the President, on the parliament’s approval of Vice President Mohamed Waheeduddeen and the Cabinet. Members also expressed their appreciation of the President’s efforts in establishing a National Unity Government.
Representatives from the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council and Island Councils briefed the President on the major problems faced in the islands, the people’s concerns, and the areas for potential development within the atoll.
President Waheed reassured that the government will continue to provide its public services equally among all the people, regardless of the political party they belonged to. The President also assured the council members that their issues would be looked into, and necessary measures would be taken in solving them, depending on the fiscal availability.
