During this visit Hon. Moosa Manik will meet with H.E. Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs (Senior Vice-Minister) Mr. Izumi Arai, Vice-President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Hon. Ms. Yuko Obuchi, Secretary-General of Japan-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship League. He would also hold meetings with senior officials of the
Hon. Manik would also visit the Japanese National Diet, NHK and Japan Tourism Agency and hold discussions on furthering cooperation between the two countries.
Hon. Manik will visit Hiroshima and Kyoto before he leaves Japan on 26 January.

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES THE LEASING OF BODUMOHORAA ISLAND FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MARICULTURE
As part of the Privatization Program, the Government of the Maldives has announced for Expression of Interest for the leasing of V. (atoll) Bodumohoraa Island. Since 1999 the island has been used as the Research Station of the Marine Research Centre.
The Government of the Maldives has now decided to lease the island for prospective parties/companies or individuals for research and development of mariculture.
