Minato Blossom Festa ~みなとでつなぐ世界の輪~

11月12日(土)13日の2日間、TBS赤坂サカス広場にて、Minato Blossom Festa ~みなとでつなぐ世界の輪~が開催されます。
区内に立地する大使館が連携し、世界の文化に触れられるこのお祭りに、モルディブ大使館も参加いたします。
モルディブの歌(ディベヒ語)のライブパフォーマンスも行われます。
今年はモルディブと日本の外交関係樹立55周年の記念の年です。
皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid arrived in Tokyo, Japan on an official visit to attend the State Funeral of the Former Prime Minister of Japan Abe Shinzo. The Minister will be representing the Maldives at the State Funeral on behalf of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as his special envoy.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Shahid will attend the State Funeral and pay last respects to the Former Prime Minister. Minister Shahid will also meet his counterpart, Hayashi Yoshimasa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and discuss ways to strengthen the existing long-standing relations between Maldives and Japan.

This visit will honour the legacy of Prime Minister Abe and underscore the importance of his leadership in advancing the relationship between Maldives and Japan to an unprecedented level.

Foreign Minister Shahid will be accompanied by His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Hassan Sobir, Ambassador of Maldives to Japan.

Ambassador of Maldives to Japan Hassan Sobir presented his Letters of Credence to the Emperor of Japan, His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to Japan at a ceremony held this morning at the Tokyo Imperial Palace.

During the meeting held after the formal ceremony, the emperor welcomed Ambassador Sobir and congratulated him on his appointment.

Ambassador Sobir conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Maldives and briefed the emperor about Covid-19 in Maldives, including the measures the Government of Maldives has taken to overcome the crisis.

The Maldives and Japan established formal diplomatic relations on 14 November 1967. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Maldives opened a resident Embassy in Japan on 10 May 2007. Ambassador Sobir is the fifth Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan.

Ambassador Hassan Sobir was accompanied at the ceremony by Mr. Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik, Minister – Counsellor and Mr. Shafraz Rasheed, First Secretary at the Maldives’ Embassy in Japan.
